When Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9), He did not say “peacekeepers.” Peacekeepers avoid conflict; peacemakers redeem conflict. Making peace means being willing to walk through conflict when necessary in order to reach a deeper and more lasting peace. May God help us to be peacemakers who do not work to make things appear calm, but work to make relationships truly whole – in Him.
